Don’t vote! Long live the people’s war! – Communist Party of Brazil

Return to Brazil

The following leaflet was written and distributed by the CPB in the context of the 2026 electoral farce in Brazil. It lays out the absurdity of the the elections in that country and calls for a great revolution for New Democracy and Socialism. -ML

Don’t vote! Long live the people’s war! – CPB 1

The corruption scandals and mismanagement in the high spheres of power of the old Brazilian State no longer surprise the people, who, revolted, ask themselves what will be the next one, since, through historical experience, they perceive that corruption is the way this system operates. One sees in the case of STF 2 ministers—Vorcaro 3—how, beyond corruption, the shamelessness of the “authorities” has become natural: to deny the practice of proven crimes. They lie, mocking the intelligence of our people. The case involves hundreds of millions of reais passed by Vorcaro to authorities in the judiciary, legislature, and executive. And the most revealing fact is that it proves that ministers of the country’s supreme court do not act according to the law, whose strict compliance is their duty to uphold, but act to favor the politicians, bankers, and other rich people to whom they are connected. That is, the supreme court of the country, the fiscal home of the supreme law, is also a den of corruption.

Nothing like corruption in the high court of justice to reveal so crudely the putrefaction to which official politics, the old State, and its institutions have arrived. And the fact that the two main competitors for the Presidency—Luiz Inácio and Flávio Bolsonaro—accuse each other of connections with Vorcaro is in itself more than an indication that it is true and that the STF investigation will only come after the elections. All this is categorical proof that voting for one or another party, for one or another candidate, is to give approval to all this revolting rottenness! That voting is to legitimize as democracy this secularly genocidal system, which protects the rich exploiters of the sweat of the working masses, which oppresses them and keeps them in poverty. The people still have to bear the burden of the vast upper echelons of the executive, legislative, and judicial branches, as well as their civil and military institutions, which enjoy the most outrageous privileges at the expense of the people’s suffering. They are the representatives of the sharks of the banks, of the latifundia (agribusiness), of industry, commerce, and services, lackeys of foreign powers, mainly the USA, bloodsuckers of the people, parasites of the Nation, sellers of the homeland. Therefore, far from being a democratic right and the power of the people, voting is to consent to all this filth and to perpetuate the system of oppression and exploitation. It is democracy for the rich and dictatorship for the poor.

The electoral farce is a theater in which the majority of those elected are at the service of the bankers, the latifundia, the big bourgeoisie, and foreign imperialism. It is a game of marked cards, in which candidates say what earns them the most votes and, once elected, do what the rich command. Such is the demoralization that the majority of those who still vote do not believe in any politician, exchanging their vote for a benefit for themselves or some family member. In the last 30 years, 30% of eligible voters either do not show up or vote blank or nullify their vote. And moreover, in the presidential dispute now, one does not even vote for the least worst; the majority of those who will vote for Flávio are doing so to defeat Lula, and the majority of those who will vote for Lula are doing so to defeat Flávio. It is not a polarization between right and left, as they say, but between the extreme right and “left” liberalism.

It is the democracy of oppression, exploitation, and deception of the people. The democratic freedoms conquered with struggle and the shedding of blood by the best sons and daughters of our people against the fascist military regime remain threatened by the coup-mongering generals, as has been the history of this Republic. The coup planned by Bolsonaro and his far-right henchmen only failed to proceed because the United States (USA) wouldn’t allow it and the country’s military leadership does whatever the empire tells them to do. And at that moment the USA did not want turmoil in “its backyard,” as it was at war with Russia for control of Ukraine, which is why it vetoed the Bolsonarist coup. But now, with the defeats in the war of aggression against Palestine, Iran, and Lebanon to maintain control of Middle Eastern oil and fearing to lose dominance over Latin America to Chinese and Russian imperialism, Trump has already invaded Venezuela, kidnapped its president, stole its oil, and threatens other countries, including Brazil. This situation has further agitated the Bolsonarist extreme right, and with all of Trump’s support for the election of Flávio, it is already spending on account of the delivery of the country’s rare earths that he will hand on a platter to the USA.

Unfulfilled promises, it falls easy prey to the demagogic gab of the extreme right’s anti-system discourse, as if it were not the main guard dog of this system of oppression and exploitation. In turn, any popular manifestation in defense of the most elementary rights is brutally repressed. The police apparatuses are no longer content to beat the people with batons and pepper gas; now the order is to shoot. Never has the police killed so many poor people with impunity in the city and the countryside. The killing of poor and Black youth has become a routine of massacres in the favelas of Rio and São Paulo, and the massacres of Guarani-Kaiowá indigenous peoples in Mato Grosso do Sul and Paraná and of peasant leaders in Rondônia, Pará, Mato Grosso, and Maranhão. Revolted, the people rise up in increasingly violent protests, and the peasants take up arms in defense of their lands against gunmen and police repression in the fierce resistance of the Agrarian Revolution.

The official and unofficial propaganda of governments and media monopolies spreads the message that unemployment is decreasing and poverty is ending. Lying propaganda that cannot hide the reality of the people. Facts are stubborn: never have bankers enriched themselves so much, never has imperialist financial capital dominated and subjugated our economy so much, and never have latifundists felt so free to steal lands from the Union with the government’s sanction; the wages of the vast majority of workers do not cover the prices of food, medicines, transportation, electricity, and water, etc.; inflation and the official interest rate, which all candidates promise to reduce, continue sky-high in every government, eroding wages, and workers who take out loans to complete their budgets are thrown into default; moreover, this prevents the growth of the national economy. The country’s inflation and interest rate are among the highest in the world. Unemployment and underemployment continue to penalize tens of millions, particularly young people. An economy of primary production for export—agribusiness of soy, sugarcane, coffee, cattle, generously financed with the billion-dollar “Plano Safra” (more than R$600 billion from public coffers) and mining—policies of degradation of the natural environment and total subservience to foreign powers, dependent on their technology and their markets. In the 18 years of PT government and 4 of Bolsonaro, “agrarian reform was erased from the map,” and in this electoral campaign neither Lula nor Flávio says a peep about it. Diseases previously eliminated return in waves of epidemics killing hundreds of children and elderly across the country. The educational and public health systems have been left in shambles, and public employees’ salaries—particularly those of teachers, nursing technicians, and general service workers—are being squeezed; the quality of public services is declining, and these services are withering away, undermined by privatization policies dictated by the World Bank

Great disorders shake the world! Brazil needs a Great Revolution!

The general crisis of decomposition of the imperialist system provokes more wars of aggression against peoples; it suffices to see the situation of the single hegemonic superpower USA, its stagnant economy and bogged down in the wars of Ukraine and the Middle East. To move forward, capital needs its greater centralization, greater plunder of the countries of Asia, Africa, and Latin America, and cuts in workers’ rights. That is: more wars for a new partition of the world among the superpowers and powers. NATO (USA and European imperialists) and Russia carry out the carnage for control of Ukraine; China takes advantage of the crisis and decline of the USA to bargain for more power in the world dispute for new hegemony. The imperialists beat the drums of a new and third world war. The popular masses throughout the world rise up in explosive struggles in defense of their trampled rights; the anti-imperialist struggle rises with the national resistance of the nations Palestine, Iran, Lebanon, and Yemen; people’s wars persist in Peru, India, the Philippines, and Turkey, and others are preparing to break out. The Brazilian people, as part of the world revolution, must also rise up against imperialism, the big bourgeoisie, and the latifundia.

The revolution led by the working class through its authentic Communist Party, supported by the Revolutionary United Front of the oppressed classes: workers, peasants, students, and honest intellectuals, small and medium proprietors, based on the worker-peasant alliance and on the construction of the People’s Guerrilla Army and with armed struggle, the Protracted People’s War, will establish the People’s Republic of New Democracy, the New Brazil, and pass in uninterrupted form to Socialism. Beginning with the Agrarian Revolution, it will destroy, part by part, the latifundia, delivering parcels of land to poor peasants without land or with little land, eliminating the concentration of land ownership and the servile relations that for centuries have crushed and kept peasants, indigenous peoples, and quilombolas in poverty, lowered the wages of workers, prevented the formation of a strong internal market and national production.

Apart from Power everything is illusion, and Power is born from the rifle: the masses must conquer and exercise political Power in their own way and likeness. Political power sustained by the armed masses organized in popular militias to defend the New People’s State from the attacks of internal and external counterrevolution and to ensure the full fulfillment of the revolutionary program of the interests of the people and the independence of the Nation. It is based on the Assembly of People’s Power, formed directly by the working masses of the city and the countryside and of small and medium proprietors, organized in each workplace, residence, and study place. It is from there that they exercise political power de facto and de jure and learn to govern. In the base Assemblies they directly elect their Steering Councils and their representatives (unpaid delegates with mandates revocable at any moment) to the People’s Assembly at the district, zone, municipality, region, and national level as the Assembly of Supreme Power to govern the entire country. Unlike the corrupt bourgeois parliament, they function for determined periods, so that their members do not leave work or professional activities except for meeting days.

And we call on the proletariat, the peasants, students, teachers, honest intellectuals, small and medium proprietors, in short, the popular masses of Brazil to boycott the farcical and corrupt elections, to repudiate and combat this entire system of oppression and exploitation, and to work seriously in organizing the revolution. We call on all sincere popular militants and revolutionaries to propagandize and organize the uninterrupted democratic revolution to socialism, on the path to a classless society, Shining Communism, the Society of Eternal Harmony.

Long live the revolutionary class struggle! Down with the electoral farce!

Long live Marxism-Leninism-Maoism, principally Maoism, Universal Contributions of Chairman Gonzalo!

Down with revisionism and all opportunism!

Down with the old bourgeois-latifundist State and its old corrupt democracy!

Long live the Democratic, Agrarian, and Anti-imperialist Revolution!

Down with imperialist war!

Long live the Protracted People’s War!
